To involve yourself, who are you?
a neophyte who tests himself for the first time at a sport
a neophyte who comes from another discipline, it is often somebody who was in the race.
A walker who comes from speed. According to these various origins, the training will be practised in different ways, with an identical aim, to take part in basic competitions of wakl.
A sporting neophyte will be already put in condition to practise it. It also depends on the age.
He will have to take note of the rules related to our discipline (basic rule of the walk and payment of walk).
The physical startup with the training will be progressive until the competition.
A neophyte, that I will call old runner, will also stick to these rules. What the heart is concerned there will be less requested than the race.
For these two neophytes at least a meeting per week will have to be devoted to the technique of walk.
At the different competitions, the most important for you is to take care of the rules more than walk kilometres or to carry out such time to beat it the next time.

Just like the walker who comes from the speed, about which I further speak, you will have to involve yourself , it will be necessary for you to determine your availabilities in the week.
You will also have to know your objectives, your capacities. According to these criteria, your trainings will be determined and so the performances that you fixed yourselves.
It is also necessary to take into account the place where you involve yourselves (track, road, way, path, dish, undulating, etc).
It goes without saying the work and the rate/rhythm of the training will be different according to the nature of the ground.
I will speak about the walker coming from speed, but it is clear that even the neophytes are targeted in the lines which follow

On the other hand, if you come from the walk speed, you will not have any problem on this level.
But have a look at the rules of the walk , which differs (guides, supply, etc). You will have to do as to preserve your basic speed.
It will be beneficial and important for you. Continue to practise your trainings of easings (if you made some!).
You will have go to competitions and have a speed of 6, 7 or 8 km/ hour.
You are not accustomed to these averages, but you will have to carry them out.
The walk is often practised with these speed averages especially on PARIS-COLMAR and CHALONS-COLMAR.
You will have the impression not to be effective with these averages , to annoy you, and it is there that the walker coming from speed has some problems.
Walking for a long time is something that a speed walker can¢t do.
His shoulders and the thighs hurt, and eventually the sore feet, then it becomes complicated.
The body can make with it , but you will have to adapt, have patience and to persevere.
Therefore it is necessary to be ready in the head.
And here we touch a significant point, since there is not any plan of training to carry out mental exercises.
Some of you will accept these difficulties and others will have more difficulties or will never do it.
It is simply necessary to show humility and to ask yourself questions after a failure.
Except large physical pip, it is often the mental which is the cause of bad result.
The only question you will keep in mind is why involve itself you, what are the results you want to reach?
Before the competition you will have good intentions .
I would make so much at the km, passage to the 50 in such time, I would eat that, I would listen to this one or this one.
Promise that if I am not well, that you shake me.
And then the D-day arrives, damned, a problem occurs a break down,and as by enchantment the intentions of before competition fly away.
A piece of advice. You concentrate on the competition, your unproductive period is momentary.
And think about the reason why you are there, which performance you fixed.
Try to the minimum to reduce this unproductive period. Weeks of training are behind you, whatever the weather was.
It would be too stupid let everything fall down at the first false step. It is worked with the training too.
When you have a training period you do not want to have (the weather is cold, it rains or other).
Go ahead anyway. Jean-Claude GOUVENAUX says that PARIS-COLMAR is to go when one wants more.
Then accustom your body, your mental with these situations. You know when you decided to take part in such competitions or will be selected with PARIS-NEUILLY-COLMAR or CHALONS-COLMAR, the weather is never chosen and you will have to make with it. Here are OUR approaches on the training.

We are not professionals, It¢s only thanks our experiences, our living and practice and we restore them like that. We leave the care to the graduate and professional people on the matter to make more pointed.
We do not seek either to indicate that we have infused science, each of you has his experience, and perhaps if this one succeeded do not change some, because someone said that it was better that way or another way.
The aim once again is to touch, the people who are isolated, or who seek information on our discipline.
To make known to them the moments of happiness which we lived, the images which will remain engraved forever in our memory.
